About Me

The Light of Consciousness

Nancy Poitou, M.A., M.F .T. , C.T.T.S.

I am now retired from Private Practice  so this is now about my background.  I am currently finishing my book, You May Think I'm Crazy But . . .

nancy I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Trauma Specialist. I have counseled people in spiritual crisis for since1987 and was a member of the Spiritual Emergence Network, now known as The Center for Psychological and Spiritual Health. I taught Metaphysics at Mt. San Antonio College and teach Meditation. As a hospice volunteer I worked with the dying and their families and taught the Psycho-Spiritual Aspects of Hospice work to incoming hospice volunteers. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Art, I studied two years with a professional clairvoyant and studied Natural Theology for one year. I was a member of the San Gabriel Valley Paranormal Researchers (now disbanded). My Master’s Degree in Marriage, Family & Child Counseling is from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena. While in graduate school I completed a one year internship working with cancer patients and their families at the Wellness Community. I also worked several years at Project Sister in Pomona when it was primarily a rape crisis center, supervised interns and taught part of the volunteer training course there on crisis intervention, trauma and the long term effects of sexual assault on survivors as well as individual therapy sessions and facilitating several groups. I have also worked in a private practice setting since 1996 where I have also supervised interns. I also do trainings and workshops on trauma, meditation and spiritual emergence.
