Q: How does the Soul express itself via creative expression and artwork, and why?
A: In my opinion all the creative arts and creativity comes from the collective unconscious and the soul.
When I was working on a B.A. in art I got stuck in a creative block. Previous to the internet, I went to the library and read everything I could find on creativity. It didn’t tell me much. They could observe the creative process from the outside but it didn’t tell me where ideas come from.
Years later it all began to make sense when I read about reincarnation. We learn the arts in past lives we can pick it up again quickly in a subsequent lifetime, people call it talent or an artistic gift. The gift part didn’t make sense to me because why would God give me a gift and not someone else? So reincarnation made much more sense in explaining it to me.
Creativity is simply problem solving. When I learned about consciousness and the collective unconscious and how our minds work it all began to make sense. I’ll use the analogy of a google search.
Staring at a blank canvas for example is the problem. So if the internet is the collective unconsciousness when we have a problem to solve you put the term in a google search. If you sit there and stare at it you are stuck like I was in a creative block trying to consciously come up with an idea. We have to let it go, press enter and let the collective unconscious be searched by our consciousness known as the unconscious. Often we need to walk away and do something else and when the search finds the answer it pops into our heads, like the results of a google search pops us answers on the google search page.
